It is never too late to be happy

Moments of Need

be happyA couple of years ago I had a hard time.

  • Being a caregiver for almost two decades took its toll.
  • Because of this task and the state of the economy my company went down the drain.
  • My body was giving me signs that I was aging.
  • My son married in Spain, making me aware he was definitely not returning to Holland.

To cut a long story short: I was not happy.

Through the years everybody encounters hardship. It’s part of life. The big question is: what do you do in these moments of need. Will you sit in a corner and feel sorry for yourself? Will you go on as if nothing is the matter? Or will you grab yourself by the throat and shake it up?

Magical Moments of Need

Living on Purpose

product of my decisionsI chose to shake myself up. It wasn’t easy, I must admit. The main obstacles were internal. This little voice in my head said: “You can’t do it”, “You’re too old”, “You’re a woman” or “Everybody has a hard time now”. Those were excuses, although I didn’t recognize them as such. I thought it was the plain truth and nothing was to be done about it.

Shaking myself up was not only my own doing. I had great help from a friend, who gave me a kick in the butt and sent me to “Open Circles Academy“. With all their trainings, seminars and self-help book I was able to turn my moments of need into Magical Moments of Need. The moments I learned the most about myself. The moments I am most grateful for.

There is always a silver lining

You just have to actively search for it yourself

better to think of solutionsWhat I have learned is that sitting in the corner and waiting for things to get better is not a good strategy. While taking your life into your own hands is.
At first I was overwhelmed by the high level of energy at the Open Circles Academy and by everything I should do.

I started one step at a time and gradually added more steps. My days are filled with activities. I have made an eBook about them called “20 Tips to Improve your Life”. (If you want, you can get it for free).

And I have read my eyes off in all kinds of personal development books.
All in all it took me about a year to get back on my feet again and be happy. There is still much to learn, but it doesn’t overwhelm me anymore to realize that.
